In 1987, four months after moving to the Island with my wife to be Teresa Doyle (Island Singer songwriter), we visited the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market. I was so excited by the place and recognized immediately the potential of the location. It was a place where I could bring to life my dream of owning and operating a small business while exploring my passion for excellent coffee.
Buying a small used espresso machine from a friend in Montreal I set up shop. The first few years while I was learning about coffee and cupping and the art of pulling a great shot islanders were extremely patient with me. They too must have bought into the dream of what "might be", because the coffee was not that good.
After a couple of years I decided to really take the plunge putting together a business plan I was able to convince a number of people to invest in me and this company. After extensive research I found a roaster in Montreal who agreed to take me on and help me learn how to roast coffee to its perfection..
